Class Experience

It is very important for African American students to be exposed to books and authors that looks like them. It's important for them to see themselves represented in a positive way. In this course, we will read books to help uplift black girls. We will follow each characters struggles and joy for the next five weeks.

Every week we will read and discuss a new text. Students are expected to read the books in the order that's listed. We will discuss the main idea, theme, and the significant of the book. Students will complete a worksheet every week; the worksheet will be used as note taking. During our book discussions everyone is expected to participate in the discussion.

Please note that students will have to dedicate about 30 to 45 minutes everyday to complete weekly reads.
