Beginning our class with introductions and an affirmation to set the tone for our learning environment. We then will move onto introducing our learning objectives and key points of the lesson. Utilizing researched slides and videos to reiterate talking points and facts, this class will focus on highlighting Black historical figures and their impacts on society over a 6 week time frame, breaking it down to 2 classes per week introducing new historical figures each class. Gain basic understanding and knowledge of Black historical figure all through history from the early 1800's to the present day. Understand the societal impacts Black and Brown individuals have had and continue to have in every aspect of society.
I hold 2 degrees. One in Africana/Black Studies and one in Social Sciences. I am currently enrolled in a masters program for African Studies with a minor in Education. I also homeschool my own children and create all of their history/social studies content.
A PDF copy of slide for each lesson as well as a work sheet file will be provided for learners but is not required

This class does have brief age appropriate mentions and discussions on topics like Jim Crow Laws, segregation, slavery, activism, feminism, sexisms, apartheid, the color barrier, terms like enslaved person/slave, slave master/person who enslaved people, and the ideology of "sperate but equal" as well as videos of historical figures speaking when available.
