Insect species: Praying Mantis, Mole Cricket, Cicada, Hercules Beetle, Termite, Scorpion Fly, Assassin Bug, and many more; Their characteristics and physical and behavioral adaptations will also be discussed; Impact of insects on human society; Discussion on bug collecting: How to collect and store bugs for display Topics Covered: What are insects? What are the identifying characteristics of insects? What are some of the most bizarre insect species on the planet? What is the difference between physical and behavioral adaptations? What is the impact that insects have (both positive and negative) on human society? Enrichment: Trophic levels within an ecosystem. What is the class structure? A safe environment where students can discuss their ideas. A learning environment where a student can have fun while achieving academic success. How will I teach? PowerPoint, Classroom popcorn discussion, students will analyze and critique examples What will the teaching style be like? Guided discovery How much will the students interact with me? (May include: Lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion) Lecture through live video chats, recorded and monitored for safety and quality Do the students require any prior knowledge?
