Description
Class Experience
The students will understand the 5-7 characteristics of all birds. (Ex. They all have feathers.) We will go into detail to understand the difference between cold-blooded and warm-blooded animals. They will learn some of their habitats, their behaviors including defense mechanisms. Finally will will take a look at some of the oddest behaviors in birds ever recorded. For example, some birds kick their baby eggs out of the nest. Why?
There is a very simple assignment at the end which is totally optional. The students can write (with parental help) about their favorite bird and why? It will be 2-3 sentences at most, written after class then submitted via email or other mode to the teacher. Teacher will respond with comments.
If the students have a picture of a favorite bird, they are encouraged to bring it to class to show others. (optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
We will assess a long the way with games or questions.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
No disturbing images or videos will be shown.
I will have a list of resources (for parents) for further study at the end of the lesson.
