Class Experience

In this lesson I will teach learners some watercolor strategies to create a beautiful birch tree forest with a sunset behind it. This is a simple and fun watercolor painting that any novice learner can be successful at! Learners will have their supplies ready and I will walk them through how to compose an image of a serene forest in the middle of winter and I will provide a demonstration along with the learners so they can work along with me. Students will be able to ask questions and I will be happy to give them feedback on questions they may have.
I can't wait to create art with you!

Other Details

Supply List
You will need a few items to have success in this class.
Watercolor paints
Paint brushes of a few different sizes. I prefer to use a large flat brush and a few smaller detail brushes.
Watercolor paper. Multimedia paper works as well. The thicker the paper is, the less likely it will curl and bubble when we paint.
Painters tape. I use blue scotch painters tape. You can use wide or thin or both during this lesson.
Scissors for cutting the tape.
Cup of water
Paper towels
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Artists! In my classroom I will teach you skills to become better artists, and inspire your inner creativity with fun lessons you can take with you through life.
I have been an elementary art teacher for 6 years, with a Master's degree in Education, and Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. I have been an artist my entire life, and prior to teaching in public schools, I was a camp counselor at art and recreational camps for many years.
I believe that anyone can learn how to become an artist, and that I can teach you skills to be able to practice to become better. Practice always helps, and it is even better when you enjoy the lessons to keep on working on your skills.
A couple fun facts about myself are that I live in North Carolina, but I am originally from Maine. I have a dog named Jager, and I am also a firefighter and EMT. I love to learn new things, and cannot wait to meet you in my class so that we can create art together!
