[BIPOC: Black, Indigenous, People of Color ] All books selected for this class are by BIPOC authors and represent the BIPOC community. EVERY learner is invited to join, discuss, and learn together. I aim for inclusive classes. If there is any way to make this class more accessible for your learner please let me know. *all books selected have a reading age of 8 to 12. However, you know your child best. Some topics may be too mature, difficult, or otherwise feel inappropriate for your family values. Please be sure to check the book description to decide if your child is ready to read the book. * This is an ongoing class in which we will discuss a new book each class. Class meets every other week. What to expect from this class: We will read new books, and discuss themes, plot devices, story structure, literary devices, characters, and other aspects significant to the individual book. This class will move at the natural pace of discussion for this book. Discussing the elements of the book is just as important as discussing what happened. Students are required to read the book in its entirety before the start of class in order to participate fully. If they do not finish they are still welcome to join but may hear spoilers. Please check books for the section you sign up for as some classes meet weekly and some meet every other week.
