Nature can be mind-blowing.  We can get lost staring in awe at a sunset, or recognize the beauty of a colorful butterfly.  Our minds can also be blown by the absolutely creepy nature of some organisms.  From literal maggots that live in our skin to a creature that eats away fish tongues – come learn about the unique biology of some genuinely nasty examples of life on earth.

In this course, students are introduced to the “yuck” side of biology.  We will learn about some of the evolutionary adaptations that allow these creatures to infest our nightmares.  Each creature is presented in the form it truly is (disgusting), but we attempt to see the unique features and characteristics that make them special.

In order to do this justice, this course uses imagery to show the true nature of creatures like botflies and Cymothoa exigua.
