Objective: Use Punnett squares to predict the genotype and phenotype of offspring in genetic crosses. We will study Mendelian Genetics, non-Mendel-incomplete dominance and co-dominance By the end of the lesson you will be able to solve various Punnett squares. As well as, be able to understand general vocabulary. We will learn vocabulary and practice identifying key vocabulary words using Quizlet and the lesson powerpoint. Vocabulary: Punnett square, homozygous, heterozygous, carrier, trait, genotype, phenotype, allele, dominant, recessive, probability, inherit, inheritance, percentage, ratio, genetics, Gregor Mendel, Incomplete dominance, co-dominance, and complete dominance. Course outline- 1. Direct instruction using a powerpoint presentation. We will use google slides. 2. Hands on activities- Worksheet provided to practice working out Punnett squares/ interactive whiteboard 3. Review vocabulary 4. Exit ticket over creating and solving Punnett squares, and recognizing vocabulary.
