This course is offered in support of students who have taken dissection alternative course and want to try what they have learned on real specimen.
Class experience
US Grade 8 - 11
This class is being offered to support students interested in moving from 3D models to live specimens. Students are required to have completed Biology Essentials: Dissection Alternative course, they must have their own dissection materials (worm, crayfish, perch, frog or other specimen they need support dissecting). I will be available to help them use basic technique already discussed and walk them through how to begin specimen dissection referencing cuts on model and using video to...
To apply knowledge of specimen models to real preserved specimen To dissect preserved specimen and recognize organs and systems observed.
I have offered multiple in person classes for years dissecting worms, crayfish, perch and frogs.

Dissection kit and tray Specimens (worm, crayfish, perch, frog) safety glasses washing station warm soapy water and rinse pans (bags/ container for storing specimens)
This course will provide necessary support, additional meetings can be added upon request. Please be aware that perch and frog dissections usually take 2 or more class periods to dissect. Your student is already aware of body systems and organs that will help them recognize what they are looking at as they, well prepared for this next step.
