Intermediate - Advanced Level
This Advanced Veterinary Science Ongoing class is a way for learners who have taken at least one veterinary related course on Outschool (or with permission from the instructor prior to registering) to explore a wide variety of veterinary related topics. We will meet live once a week for a class discussion. Learners may also be given optional homework such as additional activities, carefully selected and embedded YouTube video links and worksheets they can choose to do at home. These will be optional but encouraged. This is an ongoing class so learners are charged weekly and can enroll at any time if space allows. Learners will not be charged the weeks that we are scheduled off, but it will resume the Sunday before the next week’s class. Learners may also unenroll any time during the course, however unless learners stay enrolled there is no guarantee of the seat being held for a later return. Topics are as follows: Week of 2/26 blood types and blood transfusions Week of 3/4 - how do I know if my bird is sick? Week of 3/11 Care of the Axolotl and other amphibians Week of 3/18 equine hoof problems Week of 3/25 veterinary acupuncture and chiropractic Week of 4/1 veterinary specialists Week of 4/8 No class Week of 4/15 Zoonotic diseases Week of 4/22 Care of neonatal kittens Week of 4/29 RAVS - Rural Area Veterinary Services program Week of 5/6 senior pet care considerations More topics will be added

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
Veterinary resources will be presented in class for those learners who would like to further their knowledge in a certain subject. No textbook is required.

I have been a certified veterinary technician for more than 30 years. I have a MEd from Colorado State University and and I am now finishing up my second Master’s program and will have a Master of Veterinary Education (MVEd) from Lincoln Memorial University’s School of Veterinary Medicine by spring 2024.
I have been teaching at local colleges in a veterinary Assistant Programs and a variety of Veterinary Science programs for grades 3-5, 6-8, and high school for over 10 years. I also teach at a private university in an Equine Studies program.
Along with that I am also a homeschool mom! At home, my family has 3 mini horses, a Paint horse, 4 Nigerian dwarf goats, 9 chickens and 2 cats!
I am passionate about sharing my experience and love for animals and veterinary science with all learners who are interested! I enjoy having a diverse and inclusive group of learners from all over, from all backgrounds!
