Homework
1-2 hours per week. Optional assignments and microscope practice are encouraged but not required. Projects will not be graded, but feedback will be given. Additional video links will be provided on some weeks for additional learning.
Assessment
Feedback will be given on any submitted optional assignments.

Class Experience

Intermediate - Advanced Level
This course will explore a variety of topics that are related to small animal veterinary science. (Cats, dogs, etc) 
Recorded lesson videos will be supplemented with a variety of worksheets, optional projects and videos. 

Learners should have either taken an introductory veterinary science class or have some basic knowledge of veterinary science. Taking Advanced Vet Science 1 first is recommended, but not required.

Lesson 1:
Dentistry - Terminology, Teeth and Dental Disease
 Veterinary dental terminology, and dental anatomy of dogs and cats. Stages of dental disease will also be discussed

Lesson 2:
Dentistry - Instruments/Equipment, Dental Cleaning Procedure, & Home Dental Care
 The teacher will discuss the full dental cleaning procedure that is done in the veterinary hospital. Dental radiology will also be discussed. Some common home dental care information will be shared.

Lesson 3:
Common Diseases and Medical Conditions Part 1
 Diseases and Medical Conditions. Students will learn about some of the common problems we see in our canine and feline patients. Feline  leukemia and flea anemia will be discussed.

Lesson 4:
Common Diseases and Medical Conditions Part 2
 Diseases and Medical Conditions. Students will learn about some of the common problems we see in our canine and feline patients. Canine and feline heart worm and kennel cough will be discussed.

Advanced Vet Science 1 or some background knowledge on vet science preferred, but not required.

I have been a certified veterinary technician for more than 30 years, have a MEd from Colorado State University and a Master of Veterinary Education (MVEd) from Lincoln Memorial University’s School of Veterinary Medicine.  
I have been teaching  at local colleges in veterinary Assistant Programs and an equine studies program as well as a variety of Veterinary Science programs for grades 3-5, 6-8, and high school. Prior to teaching I was in management at one of the largest veterinary practices in my state.  
I am a member of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America, the Association of Zoo Veterinary Technicians and the American Association of Equine Technicians and Assistants. I am a lifelong learner myself and love sharing my excitement for learning! 
I am also a homeschool mom! At home, my family has 2 mini horses, a Paint horse,  4 Nigerian dwarf goats, 6 chickens and 4cats!
 I  am passionate about sharing my experience and love for animals and veterinary medicine with all learners from diverse backgrounds from all around the world! If your learner has a dream to be a veterinary professional, then I am excited to help them on these first steps!
