Description
Class Experience
I will teach kids about the history of the Bill of Rights and the five rights (freedoms) guaranteed by the 1st Amendment. We will look at how our lives would differ if we didn't have these rights. Also: we will look at the role of the press as a watchdog for society and government. My class will be a mix of short videos, slideshows, and general conversations. We may have an in-class game or group exercise. No real experience necessary. I love student participation and will encourage students...
Students will improve their understanding of the 1st Amendment.
This course does not homework -- but I may give students questions to ask family members if they are interested in exploring the topic further.
I will supply a one-page handout.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There is no formal assessment in this course.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will refer to the U.S. Constitution over the course of the class. We will also talk about the Bill of Rights and *may* touch on a few landmark legal cases.
