During this series of fun language lessons, children will be introduced to the French language through songs and games. This is not a French Immersion class, but is designed as a gentle introduction to French. Most of the class is conducted in English, and learners are encouraged to use the new words they learn during the class activities. Mme. Colleen is a bilingual (French and English) teacher who has been sharing fun language lessons with children for many years. Her patient and calm teaching style helps children who are new to foreign language learning feel confident and at ease. Lesson One Friday , February 3, 2023 Greetings and Colours This week we will learn how to introduce ourselves in French. We will sing "Bonjour, Je m'appelle" and will learn how to tell people our name and ask them theirs. We will tell "Ours Brun - Dis-moi" with the flannel board which will introduce colours and animals in French. Using flashcard style graphics, we will practice and review our lesson. Lesson Two Friday, February 10, 2023 Numbers and Days of the Week After greeting each other in French and telling each other one colour that we are wearing, we will sing "La Chanson de la Semaine" which will help us learn the days of the week. We will practice the new words we have learned by telling the story, "La Chenille qui Fait des Trous", using flannel pieces and will practice counting. Lesson Three Friday , February 17, 2023 Parts of the Body This week we will sing, "Tete, Epaules, Genoux et Peids" to introduce the parts of the body in French. We will then play a matching game in order to match each word to the corresponding photo. We will practice our numbers by counting our fingers and telling how many of each body part we have. We will use a flannel board game to help reinforce the new words we learned this week. Lesson Four Friday ,February 24, 2023 Shapes This week we will learn how to identify shapes. Using flashcard style graphics, we will play a matching game with mother owls and their babies with shapes on their tummies. We will make a mask with shapes and will review many of the words we have learned so far.
