This class is an extension of my Psychology of Personality class (which I recommend taking before this one!) In this class, we will go deeper into the most popular and evidence-based personality assessment used by psychologists all around the world. The Big 5 Personality Assessment assesses 5 major personality traits on a percentage-based scale. We will start with a recap of personality psychology, learn some test taking tips, and then take a 15-minute personality assessment. The format of this test is easy and I will be there to assist students with any confusion or questions they may have. After we finish taking the test, we will go over each personality trait, what each student's individual results mean, and how to apply the learnings to our every day lives. This class will offer interactive games such as a matching game and a competitive game at the end of class. This class also encourages a lot of open discussion and self-reflection, as we are learning about our very unique personalities!
Learning Goals
Students will gain an accurate understanding of their unique personality types, and learn about the big 5 personality traits.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and have completed a significant amount of graduate psychology coursework. While covering this material, I will be sensitive to students' psychological differences and reinforce the notion that these are objective personality traits. If a student does not feel that the Big 5 applies to them, such information will not be forced upon them. They are encouraged to retain their sovereignty over their thoughts, behaviors, and personality, and simply use this assessment as a tool for possibly understanding themselves better.
Anxiety and depressive disorders will not be discussed in this class. The traits we will discuss are percentage-based dispositions and do not have a cause and effect relationship with psychological disorders.
External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:

We will use NearPod and a separate website to take the personality test on. I will provide the links for both before the start of class.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Taylor!
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Florida and I'm currently pursuing my Master of Education degree. I've been working with children for about 5 years now as a professional nanny, private tutor, kids yoga instructor, and an English teacher. A fun fact about me is that I have traveled to 7 different countries. My interests include yoga, traveling, animals, exploring the outdoors, and psychology.
My classes about psychology are designed to bring more self-awareness to my students. I remember taking my first psychology class and thinking, "Wow, why hasn't anyone told me this sooner?!" From personality assessments to the psychology of dating, my classes are sure to offer novel and relatable information in an interactive classroom setting. I love to hear from my students about their own experiences- after all, we are all the experts of our own lives. Psychology is innately relatable, as it pertains to each of us so uniquely.
