Class experience
In this course, we will continue to build on the foundation of basic Spanish. This is a self-paced class, so there are no live meetings. Week 1Lesson 1Adjectives and Number Review (1-1000)Students will learn various adjectives and numbers one through 1000. Students will be able to match adjective endings to a given subject.Lesson 2Review of the Present tense (and the irregulars)Students will learn how to conjugate present tense verbs including irregulars.Week 2Lesson 3Present Progressive tense and Hobby VocabularyStudents will learn how to conjugate verbs in the present progressive tense. Students will be able to describe their hobbies.Week 3Lesson 4Dates, Large Numbers, Verb Vocabulary and PhrasesStudents will be able to say dates and large numbers. Students will learn the definitions of verbs and will be able to use verb phrases.Week 4Lesson 5Commands and City VocabularyStudents will be able to say simple commands. Students will learn vocabulary related to a city.Week 5Lesson 6Traveling with Family and Comparative PhrasesStudents will be able to use comparative sentences. Students will learn vocabulary used in traveling.Week 6Lesson 7The Preterite Tense and Time/Weather VocabularyStudents will learn the basic preterite tense. Students will learn vocabulary to describe time and weather.
Students will continue expanding their knowledge of Spanish vocabulary. Students will learn how to conjugate verbs in the present tense, present progressive, imperative, and preterite tenses.
My journey with Spanish began when I was twelve years old. I fell in love with the language and continued to learn through High School. I have an Undergraduate and Master's degree in Spanish, and I have taught High School Spanish for over 6 years.
Homework Offered
Students should expect to spend approximately 2-3 hours a week on their assignments and studying vocabulary.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will receive feedback on their written assignments and Flipgrid responses. They will also have vocabulary and concept quizzes which will give them immediate feedback.Grades Offered
Students will receive grades by request. In order to receive grades, students must send completed assignments to me. I will have a spreadsheet for grades where students and parents can track their progress.
