Bienvenidos Advanced Spanish Beginners! (9-12 YRS)

PREREQUISITE: As an advanced beginners’ class, it’s expected that students will have had some prior Spanish classes. This class is for students that have a basic Spanish foundation and would like to continue to develop their Spanish vocabulary and improve their Spanish conversational skills.  

Our focus for this ongoing weekly class will be to learn and practice common Spanish words and verbs. Students will learn to build sentences that will help them have conversations with others. I will speak English and Spanish. I will speak slowly and use pictures or words to describe what we are learning to ensure students comprehend the overall topic. We will practice the vocabulary students learn in a useful and conversational way. Students will be excited and confident about learning Spanish as they continue to build their vocabulary and start using the Spanish words they have learned.

Topics:
Week 6/13: Express likes and dislikes while learning food vocabulary.
Week 6/20: Rooms and furniture around the house. Learn to ask where the bathroom, living room, bedroom, and kitchen is. 
Week 6/27: Learn new verbs related to house activities: I eat in the dining room, I sleep in the room, etc. 
Week 7/11: Descriptions and Personality. Ex: I have short straight hair. She has long hair. I am kind and shy. He is strong. 
Week 7/18: Learn to ask questions – who, what, when, where, why, and how.
Week 7/25: Weather and the verb “to be” and “it is”. Ex. How’s the weather? It’s cloudy.
