Class Experience

Beginner Level
In this first lesson and in the following two lessons, students watch and then practice the activities demonstrated in the videos. In the videos, two brothers are taking in-person lessons with Tammy the Bicycle Teacher. Outschool students have the opportunity to watch and practice along with these two peers who are learning and practicing the steps that brought them from fearful of falling to confidently pedaling.

Learning Goals

Students will learn how to coast- lift feet and maintain balance while bicycle is rolling.
Students will learn how to rest one foot on the pedal, take steps with other foot, and coast.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I'm an occupational therapist who has been working with children since 1999.

In 2014, I began teaching my clients how to ride a bike; and, using activity analysis, I developed a system of steps based on how they were learning.

In 2018, I offered my system of steps to the general public, to assess if my system would work for those who were not receiving occupational therapy. I discovered my system works well with all ages and abilities.

In 2024, I decided to dedicate all of my time to teaching bicycle lessons. To reach those who don't have access to a bicycle teacher, I self published a book teaching adults how to teach their child who is afraid to learn. Now, I'm thrilled to announce that I'm offering my system to Outschool students who live around the world.
