Weeks 1 and 2 will focus on artistic digital making where students will learn how to use Adobe to create vector drawings and illustrations. (You will need access to Adobe and Adobe Illustrator for this part) 2. Weeks 3 and 4 will focus on professional digital making where students will learn how to use Adobe to create professional outcomes, such as bookmaking. (You will need access to Adobe and Adobe InDesign for this part) 3. Weeks 5-10 will focus on physical making using our hands to create a painting, drawing, or sculpture. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from Iowa State University
Hello! My name is Bethanie Jones and I am an architectural designer, educator, and artist residing in Seattle, Washington. I hold a BA in Architecture from Iowa State University and a specialization in UX/UI design from the California Institute of the Arts.
As a designer and artist, I look to allow the rigidity of one discipline to balance the conceptual fluidity of the other. This exchange maintains my hyper sensitivity to space and how users experience space. The tensions in space psychology, how beauty is perceived, the unseeable, and finding sensation in the seemingly mundane are at the front of my practice.
Additionally, I love to spend my time investing back into education by teaching kids on Outschool. I am a firm believer in mentorship and inspiring independent thought through self-learning. My hope is to bring joy and excitement while providing clear structure, direction, and self-rule to make a lasting impact for learners.
Recently, I have been the recipient of numerous awards and grants in recognition of my continuing effort in the architecture and design community. My recognitions are a testament to the dedication and heart that I bring to the industry, art, and education.
Please join me :) let's hangout, learn, and design together!
