Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
In this multi-day class we will be discussing the book The City of Ember. Learners will be responsible for getting a copy of the book and reading the assigned pages for our class. Each learner will be required to have their own copy of the book.

As a group we will dive deep into a respectful conversation of the assigned reading. All students will be given an opportunity to respond and discuss the characters and events in the story.

We will not be reading this book during the class all of the reading should be done outside of class. Each learner will be assigned pages to be completed before our next class. Each week we will be discussing the sections that we read in depth and answering thought provoking questions.

As this book has short chapters, I will be assigning multiple chapters per week. I expect that the learner will have read the text and ready to discuss it for our lesson. Learners will not have anymore than 60 pages a week to read or a little over 7 pages a night.

We will be having a thoughtful discussion on the book.
