We will explore the characters (including and especially Ramona Quimby!) and analyze the text from Beverly Cleary's book Beezus and Ramona.
Class experience
We will meet together as a book club group in live video chats full of interaction. Students will: *share reading aloud and descriptions of character traits and themes from the book Beezus and Ramona. *complete teacher led step by step text and character analysis independently and as a group through slides provided by the teacher and our books. *explore vocabulary words from the text *learn some fun facts about the author Beverly Cleary. We will be going through 2 chapters a week....
Students will be able to identify the theme of a piece of writing. We will explore those traits that make each character unique as well as complete Common Core aligned reader responses. Students will share inferences, predictions and connections. We will define the meaning of vocabulary words from the text while having fun sharing pieces of the story together.
I grew up adoring Beverly Cleary books and read them all with fervor. I shared my love for them with my own daughter. I have years of experience reading and writing with children in a public school setting. I look forward to sharing the joy these books brought to me and my family with other children.
Students will need a copy of the book our book club is reading. For this class students will need a copy of the book "Beezus and Ramona." Student should read Chapters One and Two of Beezus and Ramona before our first class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
