This class will be focused around an adventure. It will include most of the central elements that make a D and D adventure fun- character creation, magic, action, mystery, unpredictable bad guys, fun items, and objects and loot to discover and interactive fun. This adventure will also have weird wild west and steampunk elements. NOTE: In this class we will be essentially collaboratively writing our own adventure as we go. While they are immersed in the adventure the players will be learning collaboration, team building, critical thinking, role-playing, cooperative learning, and problem solving. Also, how to deal with frustration, and how to adapt to changing conditions.
I am an educator by profession, and an experienced gamemaster who has created hundreds of adventures in many different RPG genres. My adventures always feature immersive, imaginative and highly interactive story telling with a focus on maximizing the players’ enjoyment and involvement in the action of the game.
Imagination, and a willingness to learn. No physical materials required
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will be assessed and receive feedback from me during the adventure to help them keep in mind what they are learning.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
There will be mild pretend violent encounters in which the student adventurers (the good guys) will face off against the bad guys. Nothing overly graphic, just descriptive collaborative storytelling.
Any additional sources or information will mostly be free, and usually online. None are required purchases to play.
Learning should be fun!
