Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
In this two-day class learn how to organize your thoughts, gather your words, and build your confidence to successfully tell stories orally. The process is much the same as preparing to write the five paragraph essay. In addition, the student gains public speaking skills.

In Unit One I will teach storytelling preparation with the use of thesis and outline. I will show examples and tell them a story based on one of my favorite books. We will examine the usefulness of the thesis and outline of details from the story I tell. The students will be assigned to prepare a story using these techniques for the next unit.

In Unit Two the students will take the spotlight and tell a story based on one of their favorite books with the goal of being organized, engaging, making the points they want to make, and having fun. Finally, we will discuss their storytelling preparations and storytelling experience.
