In this two-day class learn how to organize your thoughts, gather your words, and build your confidence to successfully tell stories orally. The process is much the same as preparing to write the five paragraph essay. In addition, the student gains public speaking skills. I am a published author of many short stories, three young adult novels, and three memoirs. I have had the pleasure of orally telling stories to groups of children for over two decades. Stories are what the universe is made of.
Homework Offered
For Unit 2, students will prepare to tell a story based on one of their favorite books. The story will be five to ten minutes in length. Students will be provided an organizational outline Students should expect to spend between 1 and 2 hours preparing their story.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Assessment will be in the response and discussion after they tell their story in Unit 2.Grades Offered
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Stories are expected to be based upon books appropriate for the audience age group.
