Class Experience

This class with strengthen students' vocabulary, critical thinking and inferencing skills, as well as provide them with a wealth of interesting knowledge about our world that most people don't know.
I am an award-winning, certified teacher in Texas with nine years of classroom experience teaching science. I have experience working with students with disabilities, gifted learners, and students with a primary language other than English. I have five children, one of which is an incredibly smart child who also has dyslexia, and I know first-hand how important it is for all knowledge and questions to be presented visually and orally as well as written in my classes.
Students can spend a few minutes before class researching a fun and interesting fact to share with the class about something they enjoy if they would like, but this is completely optional.
Suggested but not required: It would benefit each student to have access to a second internet device (like a phone, tablet, or laptop) that can be used to access while the student is on Outschool on the other device; however, they could also open two separate windows on their computer, one for Zoom and one for Kahoot as an alternative.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Some science topics we cover in class may be a little unsettling or gross to some, but they are all true.
