US Grade 5 - 8
In this ongoing class learners will explore a different movie each week. We will look at some of the most iconic movies from American history beginning in the 1980's. We will explore how these movies were made, looking at special effects, writing, actors and most importantly how these films impacted American pop culture. Students will be encouraged but not required to watch the film each week and I'll post a note on where each film can be streamed/rented weekly. All films covered in this class will be PG. October 1 - 7: Hotel Transylvania October 8 - 14: Beetlejuice Home Alone White Fang The Great Escape Nightmare Before Christmas
Learning Goals
Students will be encouraged to look at movies more critically in this class. I.e. what can this movie teach us about how American culture from the time it was made. We will also explore production and special effects. Lastly, students will be encouraged to give their own review of the movie each week by rating it out of 5 starts and providing their explanation as to why.

Parental Guidance
All movies selected for this class will be rated PG. I will also post parental guidance about each movie weekly letting you know what kind of content in the movie you may want to look out for such as language or violence so you can make an informed decision before watching. However if there is ever a movie you're not comfortable having your learner watch the schedule will always have the next 4 movies posted in advance.
