Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 3
Imagination comes easily to children but expressing these ideas into writing can be more difficult. Join us to get those creative juices flowing. This is a flexible schedule class. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a prompt such as a story starter, picture, question, etc. as well as tips and tricks for writing will be posted to the classroom page. The student can choose one prompt a week or all three to complete. Every Monday there will also be a story starter on the classroom page that every student and myself can work on together to complete by taking turns on writing what happens next. Students will have various options of how to complete their work depending on their writing abilities which can be found on the classroom page or see below. Students can also share their work with everyone on the classroom page or just to me privately through messaging. I will respond to each response to encourage the child's writing journey and may include questions to expand their thought process. How to turn in assignments: 1. Simply add a comment to the post with your story. 2. Attach a file (this can be Word document or picture) 3. Use the record video option (especially good for younger students who can show me their picture and/or story, and then add to it orally what they are unable to write). Assignments can be turned in on the classroom page so other students can also enjoy, or sent to me through messaging. Depending on level of writing ability, choose which option works best: 1. Record video as said above 2. draw a picture and add words with adult/parental help (i.e. child narrates what should be written) 3. Draw a picture and write yourself 4. Write/type your story This class is designed to be fun and to encourage new writers to be creative. I will not correct spelling, grammar, etc. unless a parent asks. Upon enrollment, please tell me some of your student's favorite things where prompted so I can provide the best prompts for your student.
