"Beginning Violin Level 3" is an exciting course where students will begin to learn advanced techniques such as vibrato, spiccato and martelé. These techniques will be practiced throughout the course with exercises and pieces because they take time to master. The goal of this class is for students to continue their musical growth as their love and enthusiasm for the violin develop. Therefore, along with the classical pieces we will be learning, I will also introduce some movie music that all students love. This class is for students who have taken my "Beginning Violin Level 2" class or who know how to play their D-Major scale as well as beginning level songs such as "Ode to Joy." Students should also have a basic knowledge of note reading and music theory. If you would like to enroll your child but are not sure if he/she is at the right level, please message me with your inquiries, and I will make sure to place your child in the class that will best meet his/her musical needs. These are the topics and songs we will be covering weekly: WEEK 1: Review of notes on all four strings. Scales D and C Major with 2 and 4 slurs. Simple composition on "Musescore" software to practice note reading WEEK 2: "Can-Can" / Learning to play fast using various finger patterns while keeping fingers relaxed / Practicing skills WEEK 3: "Spiccato" Introduction with Exercises / #167 in the Book / Applying spiccato to "Can-Can" WEEK 4: Spiccato used "Baa Baa Black Sheep" WEEK 5: What is a Chromatic Scale? Hello everyone,
My name is Mrs. Mariana Corzo, and, to me, music is a gift we should all experience and learn about. I teach live and virtual group classes for violin, ukulele, and general music, tailored primarily for school-aged children. I have run my private violin and ukulele studio for nearly a decade and have enjoyed every bit of it, especially creating meaningful memories with my students.
Let me tell you a little about my background. I was born in Havana, Cuba where I started studying the violin at the age of eight, and piano at the age of nine, at the Alejandro García Caturla Music Conservatory. In 2007, my family and I emigrated to the United States where I continued to pursue music at the Miami Conservatory of Music in Coconut Grove, Florida. There, I participated in several competitions and concerts.
After an arduous audition process, I was accepted into Florida International University's School of Music and received my Bachelor's in Violin Performance and Music Education, as well as my Master's in Music Education. While at F.I.U., I studied the violin under the tutelage of violinist Marcia Littley (former member of the Amernet Quartet), who was a pupil of the distinguished violin teacher Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School in Manhattan, New York. During that time, I got to perform with distinguished musicians such as Nestor Torres, Grzegorz Novak, and Kemal Gekic.
In 2016, I won First Place in F.I.U.'s annual Concerto Competition, where many great musicians entered for a chance to play as a soloist with the university's orchestra. Accompanied by the university's orchestra, I played Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 4 in D Major, under the direction of world-renowned Chilean conductor Maximiano Valdés. All of this was a dream come true, and a blessing from God.
An educator at heart, I love to teach and to pass on my knowledge and experience to others, but I am also passionate about performing. I believe that every class I teach is an important performance, in which I give my very best to inspire, instruct, and empower young musicians. As I previously stated, I believe music is a gift given to us by God, and every person should have access to quality music-making and education because it is part of us.
I am a wife to my husband Isaac (who is also a music educator) and a full-time mommy to my daughter Evie and my baby son Joey. I enjoy the outdoors, especially going to the beach, and I love playing and dancing all kinds of musical genres—my passion is music, and passing it along to others! I truly hope to see you in some of my classes.
Sincerely,
Ms. Mariana
