Class Experience

In the trumpet lessons, the student can bring the music that the person is learning at school or begin from the very beginning with me. 

Some of the skills that will be focused on are:
1. appropriate hand position
2. developing a strong embouchure position
3. how to warm-up
4. fundamentals of music reading
5. major and minor scales
6. rhythm
7. short etudes
8. developing a tone 
9. diaphragmatic breathing
10. phrasing

Learning Goals

Hold the instrument correctly with the appropriate hand position and posture.

Develop music literacy through understanding and playing fundamentals.

Supply List

Your own B-flat trumpet. You can bring any music that you may already have.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have been a trumpeter for 35 years. I completed my undergraduate education with music scholarships. I have played in wind ensembles and orchestras in university and the world. I have performed with several choirs. I have amassed 90+ music hours at the undergraduate level including private lessons, music theory, music history, various music education pedagogies for instrumental musicians, vocal lessons, piano fundamentals, and numerous ensembles. 

I've performed in music theater performances, jazz and stage bands, trumpet ensembles, brass ensembles, and percussion ensembles. 

I am a member of Kappa Kappa Psi and The International Trumpet Guild.
