Learners can count, pronounce, blend, and segment syllables in spoken words. Learners can recognize and produce rhyming words. Learners can blend and segment onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words.
I have a BA in Education from Queen's University and a reading endorsement from Drake University. I have worked as a reading interventionist with the Des Moines Public School District. My role as a reading interventionist was to strengthen learners' proficiency in reading by offering small group instruction covering a specific area of the five pillars of literacy (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and text comprehension). I love helping students find confidence and enjoyment in reading by creating fun, yet targeted, reading lessons that will give learner's a solid foundation of literacy skills.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
