In this ongoing class, students will learn the 30-letter Spanish alphabet. We will learn each individual letter name and sound, then we will "chunk" a few letters at a time to learn the ABC song in Spanish. This class is for first time Spanish learners and will focus on the correct pronunciation of the alphabet using rhythm and syllables. I will also teach students several cognates, which are words that sound similar in two languages such as "elefante" or "familia". When possible, I use sound from Pixabay to enhance student learning. As a native Spanish speaker, I appreciate the similarities between English and Spanish and used them to help me learn English when I was in school. The same can be true for your child, we can use their knowledge of English to help them learn Spanish. I look forward to meeting your child soon. June 12- Students will learn the pronunciation of the 30-letter Spanish alphabet, use rhythm and syllables to learn the Alphabet song in Spanish and begin to learn cognates. June 19 - We will sing the ABC song in Spanish, focus on the four letters not found in English and learn new cognates. June 26 - We will use images, rhythm and syllables to learn new cognates, focusing on correct pronunciation. July 3 - We will use images, rhythm and syllables to learn new cognates, focusing on correct pronunciation. July 10 - We will sing the ABC song, use images, rhythm and syllables to learn new cognates, focusing on correct pronunciation.
