US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
Young singers will receive musical training consisting of fun technique warmups, 7 short songs, and musical concepts such as rhythm, pitch recognition and solfeggio (Do-Re-Mi). Young singers will have the opportunity multiple times in each class to demonstrate what they've learned for the teacher and other classmates and practice along while others are demonstrating. Each class time incorporates physical movement, ear training, technique, rhythm, and performance. A downloadable packet will available at the second class. It includes coloring sheets related to warmups and songs, solfeggio, a musical bookmark, and an at home craft. A downloadable certificate will be available at the end of class. Students will also receive practice tracks of songs for at home practice. *All material is copyrighted and may not be duplicated.
Learning Goals
Introduction to singing lessons : how lessons work, setting routines, following directions
Technique: stretches and posture, belly breathing, long supported notes
Ear Training: Matching pitch, identifying and performing high/low and up/down tones
Rhythm: Being able to maintain a steady beat, chanting words and making percussion sounds, Singing in 4/4 meter
Performance: story, words, melody, actions
Performance: Being comfortable performing songs for others (each learner will have the opportunity to sing for others multiple times per class.

Sarah LOVES working with young musicians. For 8 years, she was a resident teaching artist for the Lyric Opera of Chicago and taught young performers how to produce, write, and sing in their very own opera! Sarah has been teaching private and group voice lessons for 23 years and is a Royal Conservatory of Music Elementary Certified Voice Instructor, a Royal Conservatory of Music certified early childhood music educator. She is also a member of the Royal Conservatory of Music College of Examiners.
