No previous skill is required! Beginning Sewing with a Machine is designed for students who have never used a sewing machine before or have only used their machine a few times. We will cover several core basics of sewing - terminology, machine anatomy, threading, troubleshooting, stitching, ironing, and all that knowledge will be put together to make two basic sewing projects - coasters and a tote bag. This course will give your student the foundation they need to go on to other basic sewing...
-Ability to thread a sewing machine correctly -Ability to name parts of the sewing machine -Ability to sew a straight and curved line as well as turn a sharp corner -Knowledge of other essential sewing tools and how to use them -Ability to cut fabric for a pattern -Ability to make a simple sewing project

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours 20 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents will need to be available to monitor lessons 3, 4, 5, and 6 specifically due to the use of an iron.
