This class is dedicated to developing and practicing reading and writing skills in Spanish. We are not reading stories, just focusing on beginning words. This is a beginning course designed for first time learners. We will meet three times a week, each time for 25 minutes, and we will be building and reading words. We will practice verbally coming up with sentences. Each week we will have a new vowel to practice so it is fine to come and go as is convenient for your learner(s). We just practice a different letter every week and will not be testing on cumulative knowledge. This is an outline of how one week in the course will go: CLASS ONE: We will read a short story and practice the alphabet. At the end of this class, I will give a writing assignment. CLASS TWO: We will read our completed writing assignments and complete a reading game. Here are the weekly themes for the first four weeks. Once all five vowels have been completed, we will do them again but we will use new words. It takes four rotations (20 weeks) for new content to be repeated. Week of June 6th: La Vocal "A" (the vowel A) Week of June 13th: La Vocal "E" (the vowel E) Week of June 20th: La Vocal "I" (the vowel I) Week of June 27th: La Vocal "O" (the vowel O)

In this class, you will need a printer! -Page protector -Dry erase marker -Word building mat "¡Puedo Construir Palabras!" -letters (preferably laminated). Make sure to cut out before class! The letters and and mat are provided in the attached file.
