Description

Class Experience

Student Learning Objectives:
1) Understanding the importance of strong public speaking skills throughout their lives
2) Describe & Follow the Tips for Successful Public Speaking
3) Know the basic structure of any speech
4) Be able to introduce themselves and give a 3-5 sentence overview of themselves
I have been a corporate trainer for over 30 years. I am currently an on-air radio personality (since 2010). I have also been a primary school P.E. instructor and group fitness class instructor for over 15 years. Speaking in front of audiences has been a part of my entire career.
In future, Beginning Public Speaking will be an Ongoing Class so learners will have homework assignments that will be short but fun. I'll be going into detail in future lessons about each step of speech preparation and the basic structure of every speech. Students will work solo and in pairings, if possible, for future mini-presentations. Homework, depending on how much your students practices, should only take 30-60min per week.
No extra supplies needed
I'll be giving short, individual informal assessments to celebrate students' achievements and help students improve and focus on key areas.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
In future classes, students will focus on subjects of individual interest or about personal experiences. The focus of the class will be comfort with presentation in front of an audience, not necessarily on detailed content.
