Class Experience

Student will use a beginning piano book and learn the basics of piano through eight, 30 minute private lessons. Students should plan to practice between lessons. Students will need a piano or keyboard. Students will learn about the music staff, treble and bass clef signs, time signatures, bar lines, quarter notes, half notes, whole notes, and dotted half notes. Students will start in middle c position and learn five notes in each hand. Students will also learn about proper posture, and finger technique. Students will be able to play some familiar pieces and learn to appreciate the piano with the hope that the student will want to continue lessons in the future. Students will be encouraged to perform as soon as they are ready. This is an introductory class that will lead a student to on-going lessons if desired.
