Is your child expressing an interest in playing the piano? Come join this fun and exciting way to learn how to play the piano. I teach in a fun and engaging way that promotes self-confidence in their performance. Students love learning as a group, reinforcing concepts through observation of their peers. They also learn the proper etiquette of listening to others perform and how to perform themselves. No prior knowledge is needed. Any piano or keyboard can be used for this class. Structure of Class: Next 5 minutes: Review of prior week’s concepts Next 10 minutes: Introduce new music concepts Next 10 minutes: Learn a new song – songs are listed in scope & sequence below. Last 15 minutes: Each learner takes a turn performing a song they would like to play on the piano. Scope & Sequence Week 1: Proper Hand Position, Quarter Notes, Eighth Notes, Musical Alphabet, Finding all C’s on the piano, Learn Middle C, Song “Walk, Run & Rest” Week 2: Learn all names of the white keys on the piano, Treble Clef, Read the musical notes, C, D, E, Song “Little Fish” Week 3: Half Note, Dotted Half Note, Whole Note, Song, “Bigger Fish” and “The Snail” Week 4: Bass clef notes, G, A, B below middle C and F, G above middle C. Song “Little Monkey” Week 5: Song, “Old McDonald” Songs will need to be printed prior to class. I suggest getting either a notebook or folder to keep the songs and any additional worksheets in. If learners progress at a faster pace, I will add more songs to their repertoire. I hope to see your learner in class!
