Class Experience

Students will be able to identify how objects move. They will also be able to identify that simple machines, magnets, heat, energy, sound, light and electricity are forms of motion and energy.
No homework will be required for this class however, follow up activities will be provided for all learners to solidify their learning.
Paper and pencil, a ball (or object that can roll), 1 piece of tissue, a ruler (or long flat object similar to a ruler), a small block or rock, a small object (similar to a toy car, building block, etc.), a magnet, 5 small magnetic objects (Ex: safety pin, paper clip, nail, screw, tweezers, etc..), 5 small non-magnetic objects (Ex: toothpick, pencil, blocks, small toy, etc.) a flashlight and a small mirror.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will be assessed throughout each lesson by teacher observation. Learners will be expected to complete all activities and experiments during each class meeting to help establish what is being taught.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parental guidance may be needed when students are working with small objects for our magnet activity. Many magnetic household items (safety pins, scissors, etc.) may cause harm and/or have the potential to be a choking hazard for young learners.
