Learners will be assessed throughout each lesson by teacher observation. Learners will be expected to complete all activities and experiments during each class meeting to help establish what is being taught.Class Experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
*Note: This class has sections that meet either once a week or twice a week, to help accommodate learner's schedules. The fascinating world of physics surrounds us every day! In this class young learners will learn all about the world of Motion and Energy through guidance and self-discovery. How do things move? What are simple machines? This class will help to answer those questions, and more! In this class I will teach very important science vocabulary that correlates with motion and energy. Each class will build on each other to help young learners fully understand the physical science of motion and energy. Activities and experiments will be done in each class. Day 1- Position and Motion, Pushing and Pulling + Engaging Activities Day 2- Simple Machines + Engaging Activities Day 3- Magnets + Sorting Activity (a magnet will be needed for this lesson) Day 4- Energy & Heat + Engaging Activities Day 5- Sound + Engaging Activity Day 6- Light & Electricity + Activity + Review all that was learned about Motion and Energy Key Vocabulary: Gravity, Force, Friction, Position, Motion, Simple Machine, Poles, Repel, Vibrate, Electricity, Energy, Pitch Supporting Vocabulary: Push, Pull, Ramp, Magnet, Speed, Pulley, Lever, Heat, Light * Please check in the "classroom" section before each class to ensure that you have all the supplies/materials needed for each class session. * Time may be adjusted for classes with a smaller number of students. * Sibling discount available upon request *
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify how objects move. They will also be able to identify that simple machines, magnets, heat, energy, sound, light and electricity are forms of motion and energy.

Other Details
Parental Guidance
Parental guidance may be needed when students are working with small objects for our magnet activity. Many magnetic household items (safety pins, scissors, etc.) may cause harm and/or have the potential to be a choking hazard for young learners.
Supply List
Paper and pencil, a ball (or object that can roll), 1 piece of tissue, a ruler (or long flat object similar to a ruler), a small block or rock, a small object (similar to a toy car, building block, etc.), a magnet, 5 small magnetic objects (Ex: safety pin, paper clip, nail, screw, tweezers, etc..), 5 small non-magnetic objects (Ex: toothpick, pencil, blocks, small toy, etc.) a flashlight and a small mirror.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Nevada Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I was an elementary school teacher for over 17 years. I have a BA in elementary education with a minor in history. I love teaching all subjects but most of all, I love teaching young learners about the world around them. I have a great love for history, nature, science, and the great outdoors. I love sharing these passions with my students!
