Beginning Phonics - Let's Learn to Read & Write Word Family Words

Here are the letters that we will be learning each week:
Week of April 3 ( u, d, m, b,)
Week of April 10 ( u, m, g, h, d, r )
Week of April 17 ( u, p, s, c, b )
Week of April 24 ( a, t, c, b, h )
Week of May 1 ( a, n, m, f, c )
Week of May 8 ( e, t, p, v, p )
Week of May 15 ( i, g, p, d, b )
Week of May 22 ( i, n, w, p, f )

Class Format:   
*Class will begin with a welcome song.
*We will review all of the letters and letter sounds. 
*I will introduce the word family for the day, and students will practice blending the sounds that make up the family. For example, if the word family of the day is "-at", we will practice blending and writing "-at".  Since this class meets twice weekly we will learn two word families each week!
*We will write several words that are in the "-at" family, such as cat, rat, mat.  Your child will write the words with me on their paper or whiteboard, or your child can "draw" the letters in the air.
*At the end of the class, students will review the word family and do some activities relating to the word family that they have learned during the lesson.
*We will end class with a good-bye song.  Be sure to have your child bring a "friend" (stuffed animal or toy) to share at the end of class.
****Your child can join this class at any time!  We will learn a new word family every time we meet.  See you soon!
