Beginning Phonics FLEX 1: Letter Sounds

In this 8 week flex course, students will learn letter sounds (and names) through a combination of the Montessori Method and a physical cueing system. A flex course allows your child to practice with my videos over and over again.

Class Experience

This class is appropriate for students who are about to enter Kindergarten, are early in their Kindergarten year, are interested in letters and their sounds, are struggling with remembering their letter sounds, are English Language Learners or who are being homeschooled and are working on leaning all of their letter sounds.

Students will learn letter sounds and names.

I am a certified teacher in Early Childhood Education who has been a Montessori teacher and has experience using the physical cueing chant in Kindergarten and 4k classrooms.

Students will watch each video and move on when they can successfully complete each task. 

Students are also encouraged to do the challenge activity each week. 

Working around 15-20 minutes a day at least 5 days a week is suggested.

Students will need letters that they can move and manipulate. This could be alphabet blocks, magnets, letters written on paper, wooden alphabet pieces etc. 

For the writing video students will need something to write on. I suggest students start either in a makeshift sandtray or on a whiteboard so they can easily erase their work and try again.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Student's will be assessed via any videos posted in the classroom (physical cueing and challenge). 

I will also prepare review materials and ways to check student knowledge in week 8.

No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
