Beginning Pasta: Making Gnocchi
Students will learn how to make fresh regular gnocchi. This class will focus on making gnocchi from start to finish. All students will be able to learn how to make gnocchi using simple at home ingredients.

Students will be able to follow along in creating a basic gnocchi by hand as well as finishing the gnocchi with an easy brown butter sage sauce. The topics covered in this class will be an introduction to making gnocchi from scratch using ingredients that most people have at home, like potatoes. This is a guided cooking class, I will lead the class in making gnocchi by mixing the ingredients, showing how to cook the potato, mix the ingredients, shape and cook the pasta. We will then use sage, butter to make a nice light sauce to serve with the gnocchi. This class requires no prior skills.

Parents may want to be present in the kitchen for safety. Hot water/knives in use.

Gnocchi ingredients: 2 medium russet potatoes, 1 large egg, 1 cup flour, salt, pepper, baking powder Sage butter sauce: Butter, sage mixing bowl, grater or ricer, measuring cups, medium pot to boil water, and a fry pan

After four years of teaching visual arts and three years of teaching online, I am excited for every opportunity to teach young learners and help them grow. My classroom is one that is open and friendly, accepting of everyone regardless of skill level or knowledge, promotes creativity, and inspires learners to continue to learn. I love that "aha" moment when something we are learning clicks and a students eyes light up.
I am open to creating classes to meet the needs of students. Share your excitement and ideas! I love all medium: drawing, painting, sculpting, fiber arts and digital design. I also love cooking from scratch.
I try to tie in the history of the arts as I teach so that it builds a background for what we are learning. If we are learning about Surrealism, we might digitally travel to Spain and learn about the history of Salvador Dali and tour his museum. Then we will create a dream journal and our own artistic creations based on the style of the movement. I want my classes to inspire students of all ages to create.
I have always had a passion for the arts, traveling and gaming. I have been a gamer and have enjoyed tabletop games like GURPS and D&D, as well as online platforms like World of Warcraft and Asheron's Call.
