Beginner Level
Few people - child or adult - can learn detailed concepts the very first time we hear them. It takes repetition, reinforcement and review. For kids learning to play a musical instrument, there is no shortage of detailed concepts they're expected to learn. Unless your learner is the type to "sit in the front row," proactively ask questions, and ask for explanations to be repeated multiple times, there's a good chance they're missing out on the content they'll learn in this class. We will loosely follow this format: Explanation/demonstration (15 minutes), exercises/games (20 minutes), questions and answers (10 minutes). Learners may also contact me via the classroom at any time and I will clarify the material or offer them an explanation in a different manner. I will respond to these questions within 24 hours (48 if they are left on a Thursday). Week 1 (Friday, Feb. 9) - Reading notes Week 2 (Friday, Feb. 16) - Time signatures Week 3 (Friday, Feb. 23) - Note and rest values Week 4 (Friday, Mar. 2) - Rhythms Week 5 (Friday, Mar. 9) - Key signatures and accidentals Week 6 (Friday, Mar. 16) - Tempos Week 7 (Friday, Mar 23) - Dynamics Week 8 (Friday, Mar. 30) - Sight reading Week 9 (Friday, Apr. 5) - Chords Week 10 (Friday, Apr. 12) - Thirds, fifths and arpeggios The content in this class does not build, meaning your learner may start at any time and not be behind others.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I've taught private flute lessons for several years, and I'm always amazed at how many good students come to me without knowledge of even the very basics of music theory. And the nice thing about teaching it, is that it is universal. These concepts are the same for all instruments, as well as choral music.
