Introduction to Autodesk Maya Modeling and Animation
Class experience
Learn how the pros make your favorite animated movies and special effects! Students will be introduced to beginning skills in Autodesk Maya. We will learn the interface, basic modeling, and animate two or more projects (bouncing ball and walking/jumping figure). No prior animation or modeling experience is required; students should have good basic computer skills. Students will be introduced to project and concepts in the live meeting and will work on the assignment on their own time...
Students will learn the basics of 3D modeling and classic beginning animation concepts.
I have taught beginning Maya to high school and middle school students both on-line and in person for several years.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class. One month subscription to Maya LT for $35 if unable to obtain educational license.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will need either the educational version of Maya or Maya LT, or alternatively a short term subscription for Maya LT ($35/month) in order to obtain the software for this course. This requires students to be 13 years old and create an account with Autodesk which collects email, address, etc. Parents may create accounts for younger students or those who do not wish their students to create one one their own.
Autodesk Maya and teaching resources from Autodesk. There will also be a few short YouTube videos shown in class comparing animation styles and concepts.
