US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
*Note: This class has different sections that meet either once a week or twice a week to help accommodate learner's schedules. Animals are fascinating! In this class young learners will learn all about the world of animals. Where do animals live? How do they chew their food? How do animals and plants help each other? This class will help to answer those questions, and more! In this class I will teach very important science vocabulary that correlates with animals and their homes. Each lesson will be taught using lots of pictures to help learners fully comprehend all of the concepts being discussed. Each class will build on each other to help young learners fully understand the world of animals. Activities will be done in each class to help enhance learning. I will provide all handouts before each class begins. I will also clarify what materials will be needed for a few of our classes before classes begin. Day 1- All kinds of animals (mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds, insects & fish) + sorting activity Day 2- What animals need to live + drawing activity Day 3- How animals eat food (herbivore, carnivore, omnivore + sorting activity Day 4- How animals change and grow & animal life cycles + drawing and sorting activity Day 5- Animal habitats + drawing activity Day 6- How plants and animals live together +Activity + Review all that was learned about animals & their homes Key Vocabulary: mammal, reptile, amphibian, insect, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, habitat and adaptation Supporting Vocabulary: shelter, gills, lungs, hatch, extinct, forest, grassland, lake, ocean, and bird * Please check in the "classroom" section before each class to ensure that you have all the supplies/materials needed for each class session. *Time may be adjusted for classes with a smaller number of students. * Sibling discount available upon request *
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify animal habitats and how animals grow and change (life cycles). They will also be able to identify the distinction between animals that are herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.

Parental Guidance
Learners will be using scissors in some class sessions so parental guidance may be needed for these lessons.
Supply List
Paper, pencil, scissors, glue, crayons and/or markers, and a small mirror for one lesson. Handouts will be shared for many of the class sessions so access to a printer will be helpful. If you are unable to print out handouts please let me know ahead of time so that I can make different arrangements if needed.

I am a credentialed K-8 teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience as a 1st grade teacher. In addition to that, my mom is a retired science teacher so I have inherited her love for science as well as her animal skull collection :). Animal skulls will be shared in one class session to help students identify the difference between animals that are herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.
