Intro to Guitar for Young Learners
Class experience
In this class, younger students will have a chance to learn the basics of guitar. The class will cover parts of the guitar, correct position while playing, music theory concepts such as rhythm and note values, and treble clef note reading on the first 3 strings of the guitar. With their knowledge of these notes, learners will be able to play 3 songs ("Spanish Theme," "Ode to Joy," and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"). Week 1Lesson 1Get to Know Your Guitar, Notes on the First String, "Spanish Theme"Learn to identify the parts of the guitar. Introduce the first string (high E) and the notes on that string: E, F, and G. Students will learn to play their first song, "Spanish Theme" using these notes.Week 2Lesson 2Notes on the Second String, "Ode to Joy"Review the notes on the 1st string, learn the notes on the second string (B, C, and D) and combine these two strings to play the famous classical piece, "Ode to Joy."Week 3Lesson 3Basic Chords G and C, "Rockin' Robin"This week we take a break from the notes and learn some basic chords - beginner versions of chords C and G. Learn about strumming technique and apply these chords to the song "Rockin' Robin."Week 4Lesson 4Notes on the Third String, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"For our last week of class we will learn 2 more notes, low G and A on the third string, and combine all 3 strings to play the classic tune, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."
Students will learn how to play the notes on the first 3 strings of the guitar. They will learn modified and/or full forms of the chords C, G, and D. By the end of the course, students will have learned 3 songs, "Spanish Theme," "Ode to Joy," and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."
I have over 15 years experience teaching piano and guitar lessons to students ages 5 to adult. Additionally, I am certified in special education and have experience working with students with disabilities.
Homework Offered
In order to get the most rewarding experience from the class, learners are expected to practice about 20 minutes a day throughout the duration of the 4 weeks.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Although this is a FLEX class with no live meetings, students are encouraged to reach out with any questions or even share videos of themselves playing directly to me, the instructor for feedback throughout the class!Grades Offered
