Students will need an acoustic or electric guitar (with an amp) that is comfortable for young hands to hold. Students will need to have their first and second string tuned. An adult will need to be present to tune the guitar, I will give easy quick instructions on how to tune the guitar. Students will learn how to play simple traditional melodies on one or two strings of the guitar. During this one time class I will teach simple melody songs, plus students will be taught basic music symbols. I will demonstrate how to play the music plus give explanations on how to read tablature like music for the guitar. Learners will play during the class and will be encouraged to ask questions of the teacher and the class. Musicians will be asked if they would like to play their newly learned songs for the class.
Learning Goals
The goal for this class is to allow students to become more comfortable with playing melodies on the guitar.
