In this 4 week class learners will be introduced to the basics of the guitar. This class is designed for beginners, no prior musical or guitar knowledge is necessary, just the willingness to learn something new and have fun! This is a great introductory class if you would like to see if your learner is interested in learning to play the guitar! Week 1: This class will introduce learners to important terminology in reference to the guitar. Learners will also practice holding the guitar...
Learners will be introduced to the guitar, how it works, and learn strumming patterns, chords, and at least 5 songs!
There will be homework each week based off of the teaching videos. Homework will vary from worksheets to video recordings to be submitted. Homework Week 1: Learners will complete the parts of the guitar and string names worksheet Learners will submit a picture of themselves holding the guitar properly Homework Week 2: Learners will complete a chord chart worksheet Learners will submit a picture of each one-finger chord, showing proper finger placement Learners will submit a video playing one of the songs given Homework Week 3: Learners will submit pictures of each of the new chords showing proper finger placement Learners will submit a video playing one of the chord progressions and one of the songs Homework Week 4: Learners will submit a video playing the song they chose to learn Practicing in crucial to learning an instrument! It is recommended that learners practice every day for at least 10 minutes!
Learners should have a 6 string guitar and a place where they can sit properly using correct posture for holding the guitar.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
