Description
Class Experience
Learners will be introduced to the basics of the guitar, including strumming, basic chords, transitioning between chords, and reading chord charts.
I have two bachelors degrees in music (BA in Music and BM in Music Therapy). As part of my music therapy program I spent a lot of time with my guitar (it is easy to transport and great to accompany singing!). I enjoy playing the guitar and teaching young learners to be excited about the guitar as well!
Homework is highly encouraged. Learners will receive pdf documents with information and songs each week of class to help guild their practice time. Even 5 minutes of practice each day will help foster improvement in their skills!
Learners should bring a guitar to class (classical, acoustic, electric). They should be sitting on the floor or in a chair without arms to allow them to hold the guitar properly. It is also helpful if I am able to see their hands, especially the left hand, to be able to monitor proper finger placement and offer feedback.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
