Class Experience

Do you have a student who has learned some French, but struggles to comprehend and speak? This class builds from the beginning to develop conversation skills. There will be some written materials used for visual support, but we will not be practicing reading. This class's only goal is speaking and listening to the extent that it is required to hold a conversation. This class is NOT for complete beginners; students should have had some exposure to French (greetings, colors, family members, etc.) even if they struggle to use or understand it.

Every class will start with a warm-up; usually a simple activity that uses a lot of visual support. After that, we will learn the week's vocabulary and practice the pronunciation through repetition and visual aids. We will apply the vocabulary we learned to our general conversation skills as students improve each week. Finally, we will do a fun cool-down activity to end class on a relaxed note.

Here is the weekly plan:

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been learning French for 6 years now, from French 1 - French 5. I am conversationally fluent and about a B2 level. I've been tutoring French since May 2020 when the French immersion school near us closed for quarantine and I've been teaching French on Outschool for 6 months.

I took the French CLEP test a few years ago and got maybe 5 points away from a perfect score while testing out of and getting credit for all the French classes at my local community college.

I also continue to take French lessons with native speakers, and I am working on getting my Bachelors in French.
