Class Experience

Beginner Level
This class introduces young students to speaking French in a conversational setting. This course teaches students through interactive videos, arts and crafts, games, songs, and exercises. Upon completion, students should be able to greet others, introduce themselves, and have a short conversation in French. Students will also learn numbers, days of the week, and months of the year in French. Students will learn a little French history and a little of the geography of France. Students will learn to conjugate common verbs and will also learn some adjectives. Students begin to learn to describe objects and people in French.

Learning Goals

Students should be able to greet others in French and hold a short conversation.
Students will learn to count to 20 and from 20 to 0 in French.

over 6 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Introductions
 We will introduce ourselves in English and do an arts and crafts project that we will use for the remainder of the class. We go over how to use the French calendar together.

Lesson 2:
Greetings!
 We begin learning days of the week and months of the year with two new songs. Students learn how to say hello, tell someone how old they are, and say goodbye. We begin learning greetings. 

Homework: Students will post a video introducing themselves to the class. Students are encouraged to change their calendar daily.

Lesson 3:
Learning to count
 Students continue learning about how to greet people and introduce themselves properly with introduction games and hand-clap games. We practice days of the week and months of the year. We begin learning numbers 1-10 in French with a song. We practice greetings and introductions.

Lesson 4:
Asking questions and describing objects
 We practice days of the week and months of the year. We practice introductions. We learn to ask questions in French and some common replies. We learn how to describe groups of things. 

Homework: Students will post a video showing a number (1-10) of something and describe it using French numbers. Students are encouraged to change their calendar daily.

Learning Needs
All of my classes are designed so that learners with unique learning needs can thrive. I've been a special needs educator for more than a decade. You can expect movement breaks, regulation breaks, and plenty of flexibility.
