In this four-week class, students will learn to outline, construct, write, and revise a one to two-page narrative essay about a special event in their life. In week one, learners will brainstorm an event in their life. They will then learn to outline this event. Students will learn how to structure and write a narrative essay.
I have master's degrees in professional writing, history, and human services counseling. I teach several writing classes on Outschool and in our homeschool.
Homework Offered
In week one of class, students will complete and submit their outline. In week two of class, students will write their one to two-page rough draft and submit the rough draft to their teacher. In week three of class, students will revise their rough draft and submit their final essay to the teacher.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I will provide a letter grade and written feedback to each student based upon their participation in class and essay writing.Grades Offered
Students will need to bring a pencil and paper to class to take notes. They will need to bring drawing supplies such as pencils, paper, colored pencils, crayons, and markers to the final class. Students will need a way to submit their work to the teacher via the Outschool portal. This could be a word processing program for the computer, if the students decide to type their essay. If they prefer to hand-write their essay, I recommend students take a picture of their essay and attach that via the blue paper clip either in the classroom or in a message to the teacher.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be choosing a moment from their lives to write about for this essay. This should be an experience that brings happy memories to the learner.
