Class Experience

This class will introduce your young learner to some basic English vocabulary. We'll start class learning to say "hi" and introduce ourselves. Using props, games and pictures, students will practice the vocabulary. Students will be encouraged to show their own props to go with the lesson. After reviewing the vocabulary, we'll use the new words in conversation. Students will learn to say simple sentences, such as "I like apples. Apples are red. My favorite fruit is apples." Students will have opportunities to ask and answer questions as they learn to engage in English conversation. Each week is a new topic so students may join the class at any time.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I grew up overseas (my dad was in the military) so I can't remember a time when I didn't know people from other countries who learned English as a second language. As an adult, I have been active in a local university's mentor program to international students. I have been teaching ESL online since 2019. I am also a mentor with a local organization that resettles refugees. I help refugees with everything from ESL, learning to grocery shop or how to use a washer! I love meeting people from other countries and helping them improve their English.
